Visual artist, filmmaker, and writer.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal.

They have had solo presentations at 1646 (The Hague, with Zahy Guajajara), High Line (New York), e-flux (New York, with Mariana Silva), Castello di Rivoli (Turin), Gasworks (London), Pérez Art Museum of Miami (Miami), Museu Coleção Berardo (Lisbon), and EDP Foundation (Lisbon, with André Romão), among others. Forthcoming solo shows include at CA2M (Madrid) and CaixaFórum (Barcelona).

They have exhibited and screened their work in venues such as Tate Modern Film and Serpetine Galleries at Peckhamplex Cinemas (London), SculptureCenter, Anthology Film Archives, and Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (New York), PAV (Turin), V-A-C Foundation (Venice), Jeu de Paume and Kadist Art Foundation (Paris), Yinchuan Biennale and Guandong Times Museum (China), Espacio Odeon (Bogota), Sursock Art Museum (Beirut), Casa do Povo (São Paulo), 12th Cuenca Biennial (Ecuador), Matadero (Madrid), MAAT (Lisbon) and Serralves Museum for Contemporary Art (Oporto). They are represented by Galleria Umberto di Marino (Naples).

In cinema they have also screened films at the Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Winterthur International Short Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, DocLisbon, Indie Lisboa, and ForumdocBH, among several others. The short film A Mordida [The Bite] was awarded Best International Short Film prize at Go Short Nijmegen and Sicilia Queer Film Festival, Best Short Film at Mix Brasil, Second Best International Short Film at Short Waves Poznan, Kodak Film Prize at Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, and was nominated for the European Film Awards 2020.

They were an artist in residence at Gasworks in 2018 (London), Triangle Arts Residency New York in 2016-2017, Zentrum Paul Klee's Sommerakademie in 2012 (Bern), and at Antonio Ratti Foundation in 2009 (Como).

Together with fellow artist Mariana Silva they run inhabitants, an online channel for exploratory video and documentary reporting. inhabitants has exhibited or collaborated with institutions such as TBA 21 – Academy, NTU CCA Singapore, New Museum, Contour8 Biennale, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and Museu Colecção Berardo. inhabitants was shortlisted for the Visible Award in 2017.
